RMYA is an approved site for Bexar County Juvenile Probation and the Department of Family and Protective Services mandated counseling.

Counseling Services
RMYA supports families navigating a wide range of behavioral and emotional crises, including but not limited to parent-child conflict, anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts or behaviors, PTSD, trafficking, child abuse, bullying, truancy, delinquent behaviors, low self-esteem, and exposure to violence. We accept Traditional Medicaid and Superior Health Medicaid for counseling services. For those without these plans, grant-funded support makes counseling available at no cost. No family is turned away due to inability to pay.

Psychiatric Clinic
RMYA offers short-term psychiatric evaluations and follow-up services for children awaiting private psychiatric care. These services are provided in partnership with psychiatric residents from the University of Texas Health San Antonio Psychiatry Department. Together with RMYA’s clinicians, they conduct assessments to support children facing mental health challenges that may contribute to family instability, hospitalization, or risk of abuse. When longer-term psychiatric care is needed, families are connected with appropriate community resources through RMYA’s referral network.

Parenting Classes
RMYA is developing trauma-informed parenting classes that integrate the Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) framework to support and empower families. Course details, including schedules and sign-up information, will be available soon. Please check back regularly for updates.

Youth Respite Care
RMYA partners with The Center for Health Care Services (CHCS) to provide short-term Youth Respite Care through the Children’s Crisis Avoidance Program. Families must first qualify through CHCS, which, if requested, then refers youth ages 5–17 to RMYA for a safe, supportive respite stay at no cost. This program is a brief break—not a placement—and requires agreement from both youth and their parents or guardians.
