TurningPoint Transitional Living Program
Turning 18 after foster care can be overwhelming. Many young people leave care without family support, financial stability, or experience managing daily life — putting them at risk for housing instability or homelessness.
RMYA’s TurningPoint Transitional Living Program provides a safe, supportive environment for young adults who have aged out of foster care, are in extended foster care, or are experiencing homelessness. Through apartment-style housing and individualized support, TurningPoint helps youth build independence, confidence, and long-term stability.

Independent Living
TurningPoint residents live in two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartments, giving each young adult their own private bedroom and bathroom. They cook meals, manage household chores, and care for their apartments while receiving guidance and support — building the habits and skills needed for independent living.

lIFE sKILL tRAINING
Residents work with professional case managers to develop life skills, set goals, and access educational or employment resources. They also receive counseling support through RMYA’s Family Counseling & Resource Center, both individually and in group sessions, to help navigate challenges, build confidence, and strengthen resilience.

Transition & Aftercare
When residents reach their independence goals, staff help them find affordable permanent housing and provide guidance for the first three months to ensure a smooth transition. Residents leave TurningPoint prepared with the skills, confidence, and support needed to thrive on their own.
How TurningPoint Supports Youth
TurningPoint is more than housing — it’s a place to learn, grow, and gain the tools for independent living. Participants receive:
- Safe, furnished apartment living in a supportive community
- Individualized case management and goal planning
- Life skills training: budgeting, cooking, time management, and household management
- Educational and employment support
- Counseling and trauma-informed mental health care
- Help connecting to community resources and transportation
- Aftercare planning to ensure ongoing stability
Every young adult works with a case manager to create a plan tailored to their goals — whether that’s completing school, finding work, saving money, or building healthy relationships.
Preparing for Independence
TurningPoint gives youth time to practice independence in a safe, structured setting. By the time they transition out, participants are better equipped to:
- Maintain stable housing and employment or education
- Manage finances and build savings
- Make informed decisions and cope with challenges
- Build confidence and self-reliance
At TurningPoint, young people don’t just find a place to live — they find support, opportunity, and a foundation for a brighter future.
